Chelsea boss Tuchel judges Havertz, Werner: Time to step up

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel admits German pair Timo Werner and Kai Havertz must keep fighting if they're to be first-choice players for him.

While insisting both are in his plans, Tuchel says the attacking duo must lift their games if they want more regular action.

Via Fussball Transfers, he told BILD: "We have now set the bar pretty high for our own expectations.

"For Kai and Timo this means: The adjustment phase is complete. They earned their spurs, played their part in a great success."

Havertz and Werner have spent time on the bench so far this term, with Tuchel publicly demanding more from his countrymen.

Tuchel says after being part of last season's Champions League final victory against Manchester City, where Havertz was the matchwinner, it's now time for both players to step up their game.

He added, "And now it's about moving on - and that's what they are doing. I am very satisfied with both of them."

So far this season, Havertz has managed 12 appearances, scoring twice and producing one assist. Werner, meanwhile, has scored twice in ten games while also making an assist.

Chelsea currently sit top of the Premier League table after Saturday's 7-0 win against Norwich City.
