Chelsea attacker Kai Havertz: Germany players feel pain of nation

Chelsea attacker Kai Havertz admits he's coming to terms with Germany's World Cup flop.

Despite beating Costa Rica 4-2, Hansi Flick's side were eliminated from the competition due to Spain's superior goal difference.

Havertz, who scored a brace against the Central American side, said he and his Germany team-mates are "frustrated" and "disappointed" before paying tribute to Group E winners Japan.

"It's taken some time to understand what to say... We're all very frustrated, disappointed and many other feelings, it will take weeks to process this," Havertz wrote on Instagram.

"Life is about ups and downs and it's about coming back stronger from this!

"Sometimes you get the high moments like Japan did who played so well and sometimes you're left on the other side feeling this pain, it is why football is such an amazing sport.

"We feel the pain of the nation.

"Thank you for the supports as always!"
