Chelsea able to clinch Filipe Luis deal without meeting Atletico Madrid buyout clause

Chelsea have avoided having to meet Filipe Luis' buyout clause in his Atletico Madrid contract.

The Brazilian left-back, rated the best in Europe last season by Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher, is in London to finalise his move to Chelsea.

Sport says Chelsea have convinced Atletico to accept a €20 million bid for Luis.

Atletico had been pushing Chelsea to increase their offer, but with Luis banished to the reserves by coach Diego Simeone this week, they had little choice but to accept the Blues' bid.

It still represents a healthy profit, as Luis signed for Atletico in 2010 for €12 million from Deportivo La Coruna.
