Channel Nine to broadcast final Australian World Cup qualifiers

Australian TV network Channel Nine has landed the broadcast rights to the Australian national team's remaining 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifying fixtures, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/.

The deal, struck between the broadcaster and Football Federation Australia (FFA), covers the final two fixtures of the Socceroos' campaign, against Saudi Arabia and Japan.

Channel Nine has sub-licensed the rights from Fox Sports, which will simultaneously broadcast the fixtures.

The match against Saudi Arabia will take place in Jeddah on 7th October, while the Japan fixture will kick off in Melbourne on 11th October.

"This a great result for football, and tremendous news for fans around Australian," said FFA chief David Gallop.

"We have always stated our desire to have a commercial free-to-air network to work with Fox Sports in delivering football to the Australian public, and this is a positive sign that football is valued highly by the commercial networks."
