CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: Storm forces cancellation of Man City v Borussia Monchengladbach

A tremendous thunderstorm a couple of hours before kick off forces cancellation of Man City v Borussia Monchengladbach with the decision being taken just 15 minutes before kick-off.

Whilst the rain had eased the pitch had become waterlogged and the stadium was very sparsely attended because of difficulties with public transport leaving fans stranded in the centre of Manchester. There would then have been the issue of fans being able to get home safely even if the kick-off had been delayed.

The Borussia Monchengladbach supporters were understandably less than impressed with the decision as they had continued to sing and dance in the rain even after the postponement had been announced.

The Borussia players came out onto the pitch and went over to their disgruntled supporters to acknowledge their support.

As yet there had been no announcement for a date for the game to be replayed, although tomorrow, Wednesday, is rumoured but not confirmed
