Celtic knocked out of Champions League by AEK Athens

Celtic have missed out on Champions League football this season following a 3-2 defeat on aggregate against AEK Athens.

After a 1-1 draw in Glasgow, the Scottish champions were a goal down in Athens after just six minutes when Rodrigo Galo put the hosts in front.

Celtic consolidated as the game went on, but the second half brought a similar shock to their fans as Marko Livaja doubled the Greek champions' lead five minutes in.

Scott Sinclair revived the Bhoys' hopes of progressing when his header found the net in 78th minute with what was his first touch. But Brendan Rodgers' men couldn't find another goal that would see them through on away goals rule.

Now Celtic move to Europa League playoffs where they will face winner of Spartaks Jurmala – Suduva duel in attempt to reach group phase.
