Former Celtic captain Tom Boyd is urging Scott Brown to resist interest from Newcastle United.
The Scottish Sun says Newcastle could step up their interest in Brown after Kevin Nolan quit to join West Ham yesterday.
But Boyd - who moved from Chelsea to Celtic in 1992 - has urged Brown not to be dazzled by the bright lights of the Premiership.
He said: "I played in England, but the greatest thing in my career was being Celtic captain and winning league championships as captain.
"It's a massive honour to pull on the armband, to lead the team out and win trophies as the Celtic captain.
"I did it a few times and there's no bigger feeling."
