Catania have swooped for FC Moscow striker Maxi Lopez.

Maxi Lopez had been hot property on the January transfer market with the likes of Lazio and Birmingham showing a strong interest.

"Catania Calcio announce the signature of Maximiliano Gaston Lopez, Argentine striker with an Italian passport, born in 1984.

"The transfer of the athlete from FC Moscow but who spent this season at Brazilian club Gremio, is on a permanent basis.

"Maxi Lopez has signed a four-year contract, tying himself to the Rossazzurri until June 30 2013."
