Newcastle United's John Carver was critical of his defenders in the wake of their loss to Everton on Sunday.
The Toon were brushed aside 3-0 by the Toffees at Goodison Park in what Carver described as a very poor defensive showing.
Goals from James McCarthy and Romelu Lukaku preceded Fabricio Coloccini's red card prior to Ross Barkley's injury-time goal to wrap it up on Merseyside.
"The first two are sloppy goals, you can't afford to give the opposition a head start and we did that," Carver told Sky Sports.
"At 2-0, you are up against it, then you lose your captain and go down to 10 men and you have a mountain to climb.
"Again it was hugely disappointing. We had our best chances when we went down to 10 men, which is a worry. And the loss of Coloccini now for the next three games is a bigger disappointment."
