Carlos key as Aston Villa watching Sevilla keeper Bono

Aston Villa defender Diego Carlos has sent a congratulatory message to former Sevilla teammate Yassine Bounou after Morocco booked their place in the World Cup semi-final.

Vamos Mi Sevilla FC says Bono is being monitored by Villa as Unai Emery approaches his first transfer window in charge of the club, with the new boss said to be a fan of the player after witnessing him in action in Spain whilst Villarreal manager.

The 30-year-old shot-stopper was a teammate of Carlos's at Sevilla prior to the defender's £27 million transfer to Villa Park in summer. And he has been keeping tabs on Bounou's showings during the Qatar World Cup.

Villa defender Carlos has since taken to his personal Instagram to congratulate his former teammate, who could be set to join forces with the Brazilian once again when the January transfer window opens. He said: "You really deserve this moment!"
