Nick Carle won a recall at Crystal Palace and helped the Championship outfit to a 2-1 win at Scunthorpe United.

Carle, a former A-League Player of the Year, is hoping to gatecrash Australia's World Cup squad.

The midfielder is finally back in the Palace team - and impressing - after several months on the sidelines.

Carle, who has been capped 12 times by the Socceroos, said: "Of course I would love to play for my country in the finals in South Africa this summer.

"But to do that I just need to play as many games as I can here."
