LA Galaxy midfielder David Beckham can count on reaching the 100-cap mark with England should his former Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello land the national team job.

Capello, 61, dropped him at Real Madrid last year after the midfielder agreed to join LA Galaxy.

But the former Three Lions captain, 32, forced his way back into the side and played a major role in helping Real to title glory.

Capello believes Becks, who is one game away from 100 caps, can still play at the highest level.

The Italian said: "David Beckham is an excellent player - one of those who helped me the most when Real Madrid won the Spanish title last season."
