Burnley manager Kompany upbeat after Cup elimination

Burnley manager Vincent Kompany believes that his side are on the right track.

The Clarets were beaten by fellow Premier League club Everton in the Carabao Cup fourth round on Wednesday.

While a trophy was not within the club's reach, Kompany would have hoped for a morale boosting run in the competition.

Post-game, Kompany said: “If I look back at how I was feeling after the Brentford game, I'll never master the art of feeling good after a defeat, I'll never feel great, but I feel different to a week ago.

“In large parts we kept it a game. First-half was good, but then obviously mistakes cost us, especially at this level.

“We have to keep believing, keep working hard and improving so we can come back to places like these and get results.

“We're disappointed the way we conceded the goals. We have to turn Saturday and show the fans what it means to the squad and reward them for their continued support."
