Burnley boss Kompany: We pushed Liverpool all the way

Burnley boss Vincent Kompany felt they tested Liverpool on Tuesday.

The Reds eventually won 2-0 at Turf Moor.

Kompany later said: "We played against a top side today. So, I don't think the scenario and result was too in terms of being in the game and playing to push them for a result.

"We had our moments and they had moments too, it's fine moments. The team fights, the team is alive and the team is entertaining, it just lacks the final touch at the moment to reward these guys.

"I think it was a game where you could how dominant Liverpool were in the first half but we had big transition opportunities, it was just that final ball or the last pass or the getting past the last man in defence.

"I could feel it but we were just not as solid as we needed to be in the first half but the second half we looked more solid and I thought we were dangerous throughout the second half."

Kompany added: "This Club has it's own greatness and how calm and stable it remains and how the fans get behind the team. The players just have to keep working hard and it's coming.

"They're is plenty of talent in this group and we have seen it over different games. Keep making progress and moving forward together."
