Burnley boss Vincent Kompany says he hasn't had a problem lifting the players facing Tottenham on Saturday.

The Clarets go into the game on the back of a hammering by Newcastle.

Kompany said: "It hasn't been difficult.

"After the game things can go through your mind and then you draw back on experiences in football, you think about the scenarios.

"If Nottingham Forest wasn't our last game of the season then I think it would be totally unlikely, but they are our last game.

"Forest are a good team but have lost games, Luton have also lost games so there are no guarantees about who will win this weekend.

"We go to Spurs and they are a tough opponent. There's a reason they are where they are in the league but it's football and before you know it you are filled with confidence again.

"I live with this idea that we are a team that's alive, we're a club that's alive. It's an exciting place to be at."

On staying up, he said: "We have to believe.

"It doesn't matter who we play. We had 17 attempts against Newcastle and we could have had another 10 if the final ball was better.

"That's the reason we are where we are and why you pay money for top players. But on any given day players can do something special.

"That's the mindset for Saturday, can you do something special?

"We've hit the top corner from 30 yards as well this season - not enough - but it could be that day."
