Burgos defender José Matos has made a public apology after his tackle left Alaves striker Giuliano Simeone with a horrific broken leg injury.
The manner of the leg break has stunned Spanish football, with the young attacker having only just moved to Alaves on-loan from Atletico Madrid.
Giuliano is the son of Atletico coach Diego Simeone.
Matos posted: "I am sorry with all my heart Giuliano. It goes without saying that, obviously, it is not an entry intentionally, but a part of the game.
"In my experience I would never harm any partner in my profession.
"I am receiving many threats that are out of place. My sincere apologies for what happened.
"Lots of strength and I wish you a speedy recovery."
