Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck admits they're "behind schedule" over their ambitions to become self-sufficient.
Buck insists owner Roman Abramovich is happy with the progress of the club, with long-term investments such as improvements in academy facilities reaping dividends after 2010.
"We are not ahead of schedule, in fairness we might even be a bit behind schedule," said Buck. "We said we had a strategy to break even by 2010. That is still possible but there might be a bit of a delay.
"Roman is aware of that and is supportive of that."
The new training facility at Cobham is one the projects that Buck believes signals Abramovich's long-term commitment to the club.
