Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi says wantaway Roma star Nicolo Zaniolo isn't an option for them today.
Zaniolo has been linked with Brighton as a replacement for Arsenal signing Leandro Trossard.
But ahead of deadline day, De Zerbi told DAZN: "No, although he is a very strong player, who among other things falls within our age parameters. Brighton have fixed age parameters, they are looking for players to resell. But Zaniolo is outside our economic parameters.
"I think we have the complete squad, but with many young players in the second lines. When we lack some players we suffer a bit. We also lack the awareness of being able to play against anyone. I hope the last month has given us this awareness because we played the system with everyone, maybe even losing. The pitch says we can play it."
