Brighton are in talks with New York City for attacker Taty Castellanos.
The Independent says New York City have been approached by Brighton over a potential move for Castellanos as the Premier League club eye a replacement for Leandro Trossard this month.
Castellanos, 24, has spent the last four-and-a-half years with New York City but currently finds himself on loan at their sister Spanish outfit Girona until the end of the season.
The Argentine striker boasts a return of four goals in 16 LaLiga appearances this term, helping Girona take 21 points from a possible 51 on their return to the top flight, and Brighton have identified him as a potential replacement for Trossard.
However, they could face difficulty in persuading Girona to agree to an early termination of his loan, as the Spanish side are understood to be reluctant to let him go given the impact he is having this season.
Manchester City will also have a say in the deal as City Football Group own both clubs.
