Brighton boss De Zerbi impressed by Lamptey for Marseille draw

Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi praised Tariq Lamptey after their 2-2 draw at Europa League opponents Olympique Marseille.

De Zerbi, however, admits Brighton weren't at their best on the night.

He said, "I think we played not well, but I'm really proud and really happy for the character for the attitude we showed. It's a tough period for us. We are not playing so well like last season or one month ago. It's a tough period because we have to adapt, we have to improve to progress. We have to play three games per week every week. We are playing many games and we have to adapt in this case."

On what changed in the second half, De Zerbi continued: "Nothing. I think we suffered too much the atmosphere in the first 25 minutes. After that we didn't play well, but we deserved to win the game. If we scored in the last part of the first half and closed the first half 2-1, we could win the game.

"I think Tariq [Lamptey] was one of the best players on the pitch for us. But we have to make a difference. If we speak about football we played bad. We didn't play well as Brighton. If we speak about character, behaviour, the patience of the players, there was only one team on the pitch. I am really proud of the result for our fans. We wanted to celebrate the first win in the Europa league with them, but they have to be proud of their players."
