Brentford signing Eriksen: My body has surprised me

Christian Eriksen is delighted with the way his body has responded to playing in friendly action for Brentford.

The 30-year-old continued his rehabilitation from his shock cardiac arrest at Euro 2020 last June by playing 80 minutes in a 2-2 friendly draw for Brentford away at Rangers on Monday - with the midfielder setting up both goals.

Eriksen, who also played an hour in a friendly victory over Southend United last week, could make his Brentford debut against Newcastle on Saturday and claims he is in a 'good place' fitness-wise.

"I feel very good," Eriksen told the Brentford's official media channel after the Rangers draw. "It was a tough test in the last week or so with the game against Southend. It's tough, but I'm happy to be out there.

"I feel like I'm in a good place, mentally going into the games and body wise which is the most important at the moment.

"I'm actually a bit surprised that my body is acting the way it is because of course I've been training hard but I didn't expect be as good as I feel now. It's definitely something very positive."
