Bologna signing Saelemaekers: AC Milan exit had to happen after Maldini departure

AC Milan midfielder Alexis Saelemaekers is happy with his move to Bologna.

Saelemaekers joins Bologna on-loan with an option to buy.

"I feel fine even if I suffered a slight ankle injury during my first training session. I am working to be available against Hellas Verona," said Saelemaekers.

“As for Milan, there was no idea I would leave before (Paolo) Maldini's departure. However, there were a few changes when he went and I decided to look for another opportunity. I am happy to be here today.

“I think Milan fans have appreciated that I always gave everything for the shirt," continued the Belgian.

Thiago Motta called me after a chat with my agent. I've never met a coach like him. I immediately felt the desire to come here. I also felt trust from the director. Motta spoke about trust and ambition, saying we could do a lot together."
