Bologna patron Saputo: We're buying big to stay up

Bologna patron Joey Saputo has told fans he is buying big to keep the club in Serie A.

The Rossoblu are currently sitting in the bottom three, but have brought in Villarreal pair Nicola Sansone and Roberto Soriano.

“As we start the year, I want to assure our fans and our partners that under no uncertain terms is relegation an option for us," said the Canadian businessman who also owns MLS club Montreal Impact in a video message.

“We have worked too hard and invested too much over the last three years to be in the position we are in today.

“As I look at our current situation, I question what was done and what needs to be done to ensure we never find ourselves in this position in future.

“As are you, I too am concerned, but I don't want my silence over the last few weeks to be confused with indifference towards our club. My actions moving forward will speak louder than words.

“The investment made with the first two reinforcements of this 2019 transfer window speaks volumes to my desire to remain in Serie A."
