Blackburn boss Allardyce still hoping for striker signing

Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce continues his search for a new striker.

He will still attempt to add another striker to his ranks before the close of the transfer window, with Ivelin Popov still an "option", but is excited about the competition growing between Mame Biram Diouf and Nikola Kalinic.

"One of our elements is can we afford to play two in midfield and Niko and Mame up front," said Allardyce. "That is the key question for me.

"I have to find the answer to that and I will. In some games I will go two up top and in others I won't. It will be sometimes a fight between Mame and Niko and sometimes the pair of them.

"If we do bring anyone else in then there will be a bit more competition. I can't wait for the deadline to come.

"We will keep trying and hopefully we will succeed in one position. The front line if possible."
