Blackburn boss Allardyce in Canada for Hoilett talks

Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce has made a dash to Canada in a bid to hold onto Junior Hoilett. The Mirror says Allardyce has taken a couple of days out of his schedule to cross the Atlantic and talk to the exciting ace's father in a bid to get him to sign a contract.

Hoilett, 19, is being chased by a couple of major German clubs who want him to sign a pre-contract in January - and leave Rovers without their best up-and-coming player.

Talented wide man Hoilett was only granted a special work permit to play for Rovers last summer and they are desperate not to lose him after he impressed in his appearances for the first team so far.

Rovers have had Hoilett on their books for years without being able to use him until this campaign. They made a strong case to get him into the country despite his lack of international caps.

However Hoilett caused a stir when he was on loan at St Pauli last season and two top German teams have started approaches to pick him up on the cheap. There are other leading Premier League sides taking an interest too.
