Birmingham's Spector joins USA squad

Jonathan Spector has been called into the USA squad for this week's friendly with Ukraine.

The 28-year old Birmingham City defender has been called up by Juergen Klinsmann for the training camp in Frankfurt which precedes Wednesday's friendly in Lanarca, Cyprus.

Former West Ham United man Spector, who has represented the US on 34 occasions, has been restricted to just 10 appearances for the Brum this season because of a thigh injury sustained in October. Spector joins St Andrew's teammate Will Packwood in the US squad and will strengthen a defence already consisting of John Brooks (Hertha Berlin), Geoff Cameron (Stoke City), Edgar Castillo (Club Tijuana), Alfredo Morales (Ingolstadt) and Oguchi Onyewu (Sheffield Wednesday).
