Birmingham City may have to sell again in January.
The Daily Express says Birmingham's acting chairman Peter Pannu is trying to get more funding out of BIHL following a summer sale of players to keep them afloat following top-flight relegation.
Newcastle United tried for Liam Ridgewell in August and he remains on Alan Pardew's shopping list.
"When I took the job I was very aware of what the financial situation was, that we would be selling players and recouping some funds. And that's where we are," said Brum manager Chris Hughton.
"In amongst that I was able to bring some players in to give us what I hoped would be a competitive squad. At this moment we have that."
