Former Everton winger Diniyar Bilyaletdinov is delighted seeing his old team thrive under manager Carlo Ancelotti.
The Russian believes silverware is on the agenda for the Toffees this season.
He told Sport-Express: "Of course, it's nice that my former club is in first place, Everton have not won anything for a long time, the club bosses are clearly aiming at trophies.
"Therefore, they invited Ancelotti, who has achieved serious results in all his clubs, for this he was taken. And enhancements in the form of James should work.
"It's too early to talk about the championship, but they will definitely compete for the Champions League. A good start is already a small psychological advantage over rivals. Moreover, competitors: look at what is happening with other top clubs like Liverpool."
