Bernardo admits seeking Man City exit; talks up Benfica return

Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva has declared a wish to return to former club Benfica.

Speaking with Record, Bernardo also declared he's prepared to leave City for a "new project".

"I want to go back to Benfica to help and I have to feel prepared. If it's to hang your boots, I'd rather not go," he said.

"My dream was not to play in the best club in the world, it was to play for Benfica. I didn't know what level I was going to reach. I started at the age of seven and always played, from 12 to 17 I played very little, but after having reached this level is a pride for me because I am in one of the best clubs in the world. I managed to reach the top."

Bernardo also said: "I will not hide that my goal in recent years, if something good happens elsewhere, it will probably be to switch to a new project. Upon entering a new team at the age of 29, I would only terminate that contract at age 34."
