Belgium boss Wilmots advises Fellaini to leave Man Utd

Marouane Fellaini has been urged to leave Manchester United this winter.

Belgium manager Marc Wilmots is frustrated that the towering midfielder has made just one Premier League start for a total of six league appearances under Louis van Gaal this season.

In order to have 27-year-old Fellaini in top form for next summer's European Championships, Wilmots suggests it would be wise to leave Old Trafford in January in a bid to get regular football prior to the UEFA tournament.

"A player who does not play for his club is annoying for a coach," Wilmots told Le Soir.

"Fellaini could play to support the attack, as the No.6. He has very good technique, very good ability to track back and recover.

"Maybe he will try to find a new challenge in January, if it is possible."
