Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has been told to snub England and move to Spain - by his own coach!
Manchester City and Chelsea are heading the queue of Premier League suitors, and Schweinsteiger would represent the sort of star name Manchester United are keen to sign in the wake of Wayne Rooney's recent comments about the club's ambition.
But Schweinsteiger's boss at Bayern suggested that he would be best suited to life at the Bernabeu, should he decide to quit Germany. Real, now under Jose Mourinho's charge, boast two of Germany's rising stars in Mesut Ozil and Sami Khedira within their ranks.
"Schweinsteiger would fit in well at Real... but I hope he stays with us. That's best for our club," Van Gaal told Elf Voetbal.
