Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu is adamant Lionel Messi won't leave the club.

Fresh speculation has emerged that Messi is refusing to consider new contract talks with Barca and instead plans to depart when his current deal expires next summer. In Argentina, there's talk of Messi already being in contact with Manchester City about a bank-busting move to England.

However, Bartomeu told Mundo Deportivo: "I will not give details of the negotiations, but he has said repeatedly that he wants to end his career at Barça.

"Now we are focusing on the competition and there are negotiations with many players.

"Messi wants to stay at Barça and he wants to end things here. He has many years left and we will enjoy him for longer."
