Newcastle United are reportedly being offered the chance to sign Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona.

The Brazilian has failed to live up to his 140m price tag since joining from Liverpool in 2018.

Cash-strapped Barca are desperate to offload the 28-year-old as soon as possible.

Newcastle are now being given the chance to sign Coutinho on loan until the end of the season with an option to buy, according to SPORT.

The option to buy will be mandatory as Coutinho does not feature in the plans of Xavi, who is expected to succeed Ronaldo Koeman as manager.

Meanwhile, the Magpies are reportedly close to securing Unai Emery as their new coach.
