Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde expects a major battle facing Champions League opponents Lyon.

The French side emerged from a difficult group with Manchester City, Shakhtar Donetsk and Hoffenheim to book their place in the knockout round.

"Lyon were fighting with City for top spot until the last game and they are a great side on the counter-attack," he said.

"But we have to look at ourselves more from now on and although I haven't seen too much of them, I have a general idea of the team and their players.

"The fact that they won away to City tells you how difficult any game in the Champions League is.

"We aren't in a position to take anything for granted and have a month and a half to prepare for that tie."
