Trabzonspor have axeded coach Eddie Newton.

Newton was shown the door today after Trabzonspor's disappointing 4-3 defeat to Kasimpasa.

Immediately after the game, the former Chelsea youth and senior assistant coach had insisted he wouldn't quit. However, it was later announced his contract had been terminated by mutual consent.

“I am not someone who has fled or escaped from any struggle. I am someone who wants to continue the struggle until the end," he said after the defeat.

Newton had led Trabzonspor to a Turkish Cup triumph last season, but was removed last night after a poor start to the campaign.
