Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak admits Champions League elimination is tough to take.

Last night's 2-2 draw with Bayer Leverkusen ended hopes of reaching the round of 16, with Yannick Carrasco failing from the spot late on.

Oblak said, “It is a very cruel way. It's football. What can I say. We have done everything to win in the second half. The previous matches have punished us, we have lacked that little bit of luck that is needed and we have tied with very bad luck.

"You can not say more. I'm very disappointed. It's a very tough result.

“We can only thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the support you give us, even after this tie that eliminated us.

"They deserve so much more. I'm very sorry, the team is very sorry and we haven't been able to give you the joy of continuing in the Champions League."
