Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin hailed Diego Costa for his impact in victory over Juventus.

Costa returned to Atletico Madrid's starting XI for their Champions League last 16 win over Juventus and Rojiblancos captain Diego Godin praised the forward's attitude.

Atleti clinched an impressive 2-0 win over the Italian champions, but acknowledged that there is still a lot of football to be played in the tie.

"Diego is contagious," Godin said afterwards. "It's something that spreads to people and Diego gave his life in the time he spent on the pitch."

Atleti's central defensive pair were the heroes on the night, with Godin and Jose Gimenez getting the goals.

"Games with so much tension are defined by small details," he said. "Today they were set pieces."
