Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone was left delighted with their 6-0 rout of Champions League opponents Celtic.

Antoine Griezmann and Alvaro Morata both scored twice after Daizen Maeda saw red for Celtic midway through the first-half.

Simeone said, "We started well, we had a very high intensity to be brave and press high when we were eleven against eleven.

"We managed the dynamics very well, with a good pace and comfortable, then came the expulsion, the rival maintained the humility of running a lot and tried to continue playing and allowed us to continue pressing.

"In the second half we wanted to take a step forward, that's why Llorente came on and so Lino, Saul, Azpilicueta, Soyuncu came on very well and we rounded off an important game for us."

He continued: "Talking about Griezmann, although some did not agree with his return, I was convinced that he was born to play for Atlético.

"He has gone, he has come, he has reversed his situation and he is always hungry, we gave him the opportunity to play as a striker and he plays as a striker. I am lucky as a coach to have a player like Griezmann.

"Comparisons are not good, but for what he has done he will be one of the best in our history."
