Atletico Madrid coach Simeone delighted with victory over Alaves

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone was delighted with their 2-1 win against Alaves on Sunday.

Goals from Rodrigo Riquelme and Alvaro Morata secured the result for the hosts.

Simeone later said: "The support and accompaniment of all the games with the stadium full, everything that is happening to us at home has an important factor in our people and the security that they transmit to us from the stands, the boys transmit it on the field.

"The team played a very good game, very controlled until the 70th minute. The team was patient, tried to team up, Riquelme began to show what we need from him, Morata scored a great goal.

"We went to half-time after a good game. In the second half the game seemed to get a little long, Alavés changed us a little and we didn't manage the end in the best way. The people who came in at the end could have given us more like they gave us in other games and this time they didn't."

The match marked Simeone's 450th in charge of Atletico in the LaLiga.

He added: "I'm happy, I've done everything with joy, I've been lucky because I've had players who have played for an idea and without them it would be impossible to maintain the place I have."
