Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone was delighted after their 1-0 win against Sevilla.

Marcos Llorente struck the winner, with Caglar Soyuncu sent off for Atleti.

Simeone said: "First, for the victory, we came from five games with a lot of effort and the last one playing with one less. Today we were able to respond to that situation. It is a very good year, with 50 games of which we have only lost eight, we have won 34 and I think we have scored 104 goals.

"It was a very good annual year from December to December, now we have the second part of the season left.

"We will continue with the game by game, we will continue with that philosophy. The team grows, it wants to be the protagonist. In the first half we wanted to handle it but we couldn't finish much, there was some from Morata, Lino, Molina... . And we also need to defend better, it is the step we have forward and we will work on that.

"We have a lot of footballers like what Marcos demonstrates. I already said that those who have effort as raw material have to play. Reinildo's entry makes us very happy, the hugs in the locker room and the chants in the stadium were very nice."

On Soyuncu, he added: "I feel responsible for what happened to him. He is very tall, very strong and always intends to anticipate and we did not give him the rhythm he needs. That's why part of the expulsion is ours for not giving him the minutes he needs to have that timing that only comes from playing."
