Athletic Bilbao striker Gorka Guruzeta says they're capable of beating Girona this weekend.

Girona will face Athletic as LaLiga leaders.

Guruzeta said: "We know it's going to be tough.

"Girona have only lost one match, against Real Madrid. But we're going there optimistic we can win. Beating them would be huge for us."

"Footballers always want to play, but it's also good to disconnect occasionally, to train hard for a week and get in good shape.

"Our objective is to get into Europe. The squad is desperate to do that. We also have to be positive in the Copa del Rey and try to be in the running for the trophy."

On his six goals in 13 games, he also said: "It's been a good start. I'm scoring goals and helping the team in many aspects of our game.

"Last season was my first at this level and that's always a lot more difficult.

"I don't think a lot has changed. I played well last year too. But when the ball doesn't go in, that's what people notice. This year I'm more effective in front of goal.

"My target was to match last season's figures as soon as possible. That's now happened and from here I'm looking to get more and keep contributing in any way I can."
