Atalanta midfielder Marten de Roon says their Europa League win at Sporting Lisbon was deserved.

La Dea won 2-1 in Lisbon last night, surviving a second-half comeback from Sporting.

Afterwards, De Roon stated: "We played a very, very good first half, dominating for 45 minutes.

"I think we should have scored more than two goals, but all at half-time we knew they would chase. In the end we are very happy.

"We managed to achieve an extraordinary result."
