Atalanta have announced successful facial surgery for goalkeeper Juan Musso.

Musso was forced off in the opening minutes of victory against Roma on Sunday.

The Argentine rushed off his line and collided heavily with teammate Merih Demiral, coming off far worse with a fractured cheekbone.

Musso remained in hospital overnight for observation and on Monday had the surgery that stabilised the compression fracture, which affected the cheekbone, orbital bone and right jaw.

The operation was performed by Professor Bruno Andrea Pesucci and Dr Vincenzo Marcelli at the Villa Stuart clinic in Rome.
