Aston Villa veteran Joe Cole is already planning to extend his stay with Coventry City.

The former England man, who arrived on a 35-day emergency loan from Aston Villa on Monday, lasted just short of an hour in the 0-0 draw at Rochdale.

He said after the game: “It was good to get going – I was surprised how good the quality was and I enjoyed it, got 55-60 mins maybe get 75-80 minutes at Swindon on Saturday.

"I am building up my fitness and want to give as much as I can to this team.

“I would be very happy to stay here until the end of the season. I'd like to stay here and see it out.

“Sometimes these things are out of your hands but we'll review things after the next six games and see what happens after the 35 days."
