Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins: We need to win against Fulham

Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins sees Fulham as a crunch game given recent form.

Watkins believes his team can get their first away victory in the league this season if they replicate certain aspects of the weekend's display.

He said: “They're a completely different Fulham to the last two times I've played against them in the Premier League.

“They've got a different identity and they've started the season really well.

“It's a game we're looking to win, and if we start how we did against Chelsea I think it will be positive for us."

He added: “No matter who you are playing, you want to win every game; that's always the target.

“We're going to do our best to do that and hopefully we get things right."

Villa have lost three and drawn two of their five away matches in the top flight this term, battling back to draw against Nottingham Forest on their last road trip.

Watkins says mistakes must be cut out if the side are to make progress.

“No matter what team you play in the Premier League, they're going to punish you – especially the top teams," he said.

“That's the difference between the Premier League and a lot of other leagues: you get punished for your mistakes.

“I thought we played really well apart from that (v Chelsea); we created chances, their 'keeper's pulled off a few great saves and we've been unfortunate.

“We're just not getting that luck at the moment but we've got to persevere and keep going."
