Monchi admits he joined Aston Villa thanks to the presence of manager Unai Emery.

The former Sevilla sporting director says he's been able to adjust quickly since is summer arrival.

Monchi said: "The sensations of these first months have been magnificent. The adaptation to a new city, new club, new teammates... has been very quick and easy, since everyone has tried to facilitate it in this initial period.

"I must thank all the people who work with the first team for their help and support.

"Evidently, (Emery) has been almost the decisive reason for coming to Birmingham. He is currently one of the top-level coaches in the world of football, with an infinite capacity for work and a great desire to continue growing.

"I have also worked with him and much of of his team previously, for three and a half years in Sevilla, where we achieved very important sporting achievements."
