The young centre-back is behind the likes of Virgil Van Dijk, Joel Matip, and Ibrahima Konate in the Liverpool pecking order.

Football Insiderreports that ex-Reds superstar and Villa boss Steven Gerrard is an admirer of Gomez.

The 24-year-old was a January target, but Liverpool were unwilling to weaken their squad mid-season.

A summer move is likely, as manager Jurgen Klopp will not be able to stand in Gomez's way should he request a transfer.
