Aston Villa, Newcastle eye cut-price move for Rangers captain Tavernier

Aston Villa and Newcastle Unitedare keen to sign Rangers captain James Tavernier, per the Shield Gazette.

The 28-year-old has previous experience in England with Newcastle United and Wigan Athletic.

He has been very impressive for Steven Gerrard's Gers this term, notching 14 assists as they battle for trophies in Scotland.

The paper also suggests that West Brom may come in for the right back as well.

Tavernier is happy at Rangers, but a move to the Premier League may be too hard to turn down.
