Aston Villa midfielder Zaniolo: Family support crucial during bitter Roma exit

Aston Villa midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo is happy to be back in the Europa Conference League.

Zaniolo won the title two seasons ago with AS Roma.

"It was the first title I won in my career and I will always carry it with me. It will always be a great memory. This season, Aston Villa are one of the biggest candidates to win the tournament," he told the Daily Mail.

"It will not be easy because there are several good teams in the tournament, and it is always difficult to play away from home, but we are also a good team and we want to win. If we do what we are capable of, we can make the supporters very happy.

Zaniolo's move from Roma was hardly painless. In connection with his leaving the club, he also received death threats from supporters.

"There will always be difficult moments in life, and it is important that you stick together with those who are closest to you, and that you support each other. However, I prefer to keep family-related things to myself and do not intend to talk about my mental state at that time."
