Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish is ready to splash out for Wigan Athletic winger Charles N'Zogbia.
The Mirror says McLeish has identified Wigan's French winger N'Zogbia as Stewart Downing's replacement.
He tried unsuccessfully to sign N'Zogbia, 25, previously last summer at Birmingham City when a deal broke down late on over personal terms.
But McLeish hopes to finally acquire N'Zogbia once Downing joins Liverpool as now appears inevitable.
